Privacy Policy

We collect information you provide directly and information generated as you use BUDDI:

• Account information — your name and email address from your sign-in provider (Apple or Google), or the email address you provide if you sign up with email.
• Health & nutrition data — meals you log, food photos, calorie and macro estimates, water intake, body weight, height, date of birth, gender, activity level, body metrics, and the goals and weight-change pace you set.
• Activity logs — your food logs, exercise logs, water logs, and daily summaries.
• Photos — images you capture or upload for AI food recognition, meal photos you save, progress photos, and profile/avatar photos.
• Social content — if you use Groups or social features, the messages, comments, reactions, display name, and username/handle you create are stored on our servers.
• Preferences — settings such as dietary tags, Ramadan mode, region, and language.
• Device & usage data — device model, operating system, app version, language setting, and in-app interactions used to operate and improve the App.

We do not collect your location/GPS, and we do not use advertising identifiers.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide AI food recognition and nutrition estimates.
• Calculate and display your calorie targets, macros, water intake, streaks, and progress.
• Maintain your account and sync your data across your devices.
• Improve our features and overall experience, using usage and diagnostic data — not your food photos.
• Communicate with you about updates, security, and support.

We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell it.

When you capture or upload a food photo, the image is compressed on your device and sent to Google’s Gemini API (model gemini-2.5-flash), which analyzes it to identify the food and return nutrition estimates.

The request to Google is made from your device using a Google Gemini API key, and the image is used only to generate your result. BUDDI does not retain the transmitted image after analysis. Google’s handling of the image is governed by Google’s own terms and privacy policy.

The original photo is stored on your device so it appears in your meal history. It is uploaded to our servers (Supabase) only if you choose to share that meal to a Group. Meal photos, progress photos, and avatar photos that you save are stored in our cloud storage and cached on your device.

We do not use your food photos to train or improve any AI or machine-learning models — neither our own nor our providers’.

Nutrition values produced by AI are approximate estimates provided for general informational purposes only. They are not medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Consult a qualified professional for guidance about your health.

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

• Service providers who process data on our behalf, including Supabase (hosting, database, and storage) and Google (Gemini AI food analysis). These providers may process data in countries other than your own (see Section 9).
• Other users, only for content you choose to share in Groups or social features.
• Authorities, where required by law or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide BUDDI.

You can delete your account at any time from within the App. When you delete your account, your account and all associated database records — including your profile, logs, body metrics, custom foods, group memberships, comments, and reactions — are deleted, and the data stored locally on your device is wiped.

Copies of photo files (meal, progress, and avatar images) stored in our cloud storage may be retained for a period after deletion of the related record or account.

BUDDI processes health-related information (such as weight, nutrition logs, and food photos) solely to provide the App’s features to you. We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

Data from Apple Health (such as steps and active energy) is stored only on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account and associated data from within the App, or by contacting us. To exercise any other right, contact us at vishalluc7781@gmail.com.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

• Row-Level Security on our database, restricting each record so it is accessible only to its owner (and, for shared content, only to members of the relevant Group).
• Encryption in transit — all traffic between the App and our backend and external APIs uses HTTPS.
• Authentication via Supabase — Sign in with Apple, Google, and email.

Data stored by our hosting provider is protected using the security measures that provider maintains. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We are based in India. Your information is stored exclusively on Supabase servers located in Frankfurt, Germany. When you scan a food photo, the image is sent to Google’s Gemini API for analysis and is not stored by us or, per Google’s terms, retained by Google after processing; this processing may occur on Google’s servers in other countries. We do not store your data with any provider other than Supabase.

BUDDI is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. In some countries the minimum age for consent to data processing is higher (up to 16); we do not knowingly collect data from users below the minimum age in their country.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us personal information, contact us at vishalluc7781@gmail.com and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
